Unexpected Bad Service from M1 Broadband

Unknowingly, i had used my brother MOBILEONE (M1) broadband serviced in Singapore for nearly 2 weeks. In these 2 weeks i had used about 2.5 GB bandwith because i watched a lot of YouTube video and downloading countless e-mail attachment file. There is a reason i said "unknowingly" because i thought the broadband service is unlimited surfing but actually M1 imposed a 2GB download limit. According to the M1, additional usage will be charged 1 cent per kilobyte (SGD0.01/KB). Yes, they publish the statement on News Strait Times, Saturday 9th December 2006.

So, 1 MB (1.048,576 byte) = SGD10.49. My extra 500MB usage will be charged SGD5,245?

Thats is more than 8 years service fees. I hope the statement is printed wrong or i could be declaring bankruptcy.

Anyway, the rates are outrageous and other broadband service provider like StarHub and SingTel are providing real unlimited surfing. Besides, M1 also prohibit the use of voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service which is why my brother never use Skype to talk to me.

If M1 didn't improve their service soon, many user will change broadband service provider to StarHub or SingTel when their contract expired since the price are quite competitive and they are offer better service.
